Request for Proposals: Agronomical Support for Potato Farmers

We are inviting qualified service providers to submit their proposals for providing Agronomy Training Services. The training aims to equip smallholder farmers with practical skills to enhance agricultural productivity and promote sustainable farming practices.


Project Overview


The project, implemented by the Co-operative Bank of Kenya in partnership with Mastercard and Shell Foundation, aims to improve the incomes of smallholder potato farmers in Kenya. This includes providing agronomical support to 1,600 farmers across Nyandarua, Narok, Nakuru, Meru, and Elgeyo Marakwet counties over two crop cycles starting January 2025. 

Scope of Work:

The selected firm will provide:

  • Technical training, mentorship, and extension services for two crop cycles.
  • Support for land preparation, input acquisition, planting, crop husbandry, harvesting, and post-harvest management.
  • Market linkage facilitation.
  • Submission of detailed reports, including inception, field, harvest, and terminal reports.

Qualifications Required:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in agronomical services for potato farming in Kenya.  
  • Expertise in the potato value chain, soil health, pest management, and market dynamics.  
  • Lead consultant with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy or equivalent; field team with relevant diplomas and experience.  
  • Proven track record in donor-funded projects, report writing, and stakeholder engagement.  

Submission Guidelines

Submit proposals electronically in PDF format to co-opconsultancy@co-opbank.co.ke cc adrian.shikuku@shellfoundation.org by 7th January 2025.

Proposals must include:

  • Company profile and mandatory compliance documents (tax compliance, registration, financial statements, etc.).  
  • Technical proposal detailing methodology, team composition, and references from similar assignments.  
  • Financial proposal with a detailed budget in USD.  

Timeline

Inquiry Submission Deadline: 31st December 2024

Proposal Submission Deadline: 7th January 2025

Proposals will be evaluated based on technical approach, completeness, experience, and team composition.
